My hashtag challenge

Hello, new friends and old!

In a few weeks, the blog celebrates a year of existence. So I thought of telling you more about it and about the new challenge that I am launching.

I started Storisse – the blog – to show the magnificence of our human existence in our seemingly ordinary and mundane stories.

I first had the idea a year ago. At that point, after years of working in the charitable sector, I realised I was disturbed to see many wonderful initiatives and simply extraordinary human gestures were left on the side.

Working in the charity communications sector, I was permanently fighting the sameness and (dare I say) negativity of the news, in whichever shape or form.

So I thought I’d do things differently.

It took me a while to accept (cue: imposter syndrome) that I was an authority in the field, somewhat. I did write (and publish bits of) a PhD based entirely on people’s life stories. Wonderful, sad, uplifting, incredible stories. All gathered carefully and with much love whilst carrying an increasingly pregnant belly around.

Now that the pregnant belly and its successors has withdrawn (well, at least partially…), I find it high time to speak up.

I have told you 40 stories; many were about love, some about loss, some deeply personal, and all reflected how the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact; how pausing and thinking about another person can really change lives.

When I found extraordinary initiatives, or charities, or projects, I shouted out about them.

Yet just the stories I know are not enough. I need you. I need YOUR stories.

And I need you to share those uplifting treasures with me.

My plan is that, by the end of the year, we will have gathered 1,001 beautiful, real stories which can uplift others.

They do not have to be about grand gestures. They should be yours. A memory you cherish, a person who touched you, a gesture which changed things.

This is the reason why I have created a hashtag on social media, which  should do exactly that. Tag me and use #mybeautifulstories to post a personal story which is worth keeping. Let me into those brief moments which resonate across our lives.

The hashtag I am launching today saves all those meaningful stories under one roof. So next time that you post or write about a beautiful story which is worth keeping, use #mybeautifulstories and tag me on, and we can together document a beautiful, more uplifting world.

Or you can share your stories on here, by commenting below.

Thank you and happy writing!

    1. What a wonderful comment, that I was unable to see, nor reply to, until today. Thank you so much for your support, Corinne, I appreciate this so much. As you are very well aware, opening up about anything always feels so vulnerable, so it’s lovely to receive comments like this.
